PULAU SIBU

Spent the past weekend in Pulau Sibu, a small island in Malaysia. We stayed in a kelong and to be very honest, it was a rude shock when we stepped onto the kelong itself. It was quite like a refugee camp. My cousins were still joking of how we are refugees on our escape and we are now stranded in the middle of the sea..hahahaha..lame! -.-"

There's no 'rooms', everyone who is IN the kelong has to sleep together. (!!) Its like an open concept sleeping arrangment. They have rows & rows of double deckers and each family/group will be allocated a section. There's no blockage/curtains between the row, so you could be just a bed apart from a total stranger. For us, not so bad because we have 10 pax and the guys took the outer bed. Other than this, the place is actually not bad. It has a pool table, karaoke, mahjong &..FISHES!!! Its a whole new experience for city kids like us.

Despite the very "basic" facilities, we had lots of fun. We can really entertain ourselves, very well in fact. Some of the self-entertaining activities includes talking to the fishes as if they understand us, trying to psycho the fishes into eating our bait, experimenting with the different kind of "food" to use as bait, making fun of the stupid fishes caught without us having to use any bait, challenging each other on pool with one using the normal pool cue, another using a broom (-.-), pushing each other into the sea water, behaving like idiots, munching..munching..munching and more munching. hahaha...

I am proud to say that during this trip, I've learnt how to swing the fishing rod without throwing the whole rod into the sea, how to tie the hook onto the "fishing string" (the string used for fishing, dunno what's that called..nylon string??) and..discovering that the fishes there eat anything but squid!! It's true!! We tried using the different food that we have as bait, we even caught one using watermelon..wahhahahaa..but they refused to eat squid.

Anyway, some of the food that we used includes bread, watermelon, cheezels, potato chips, the prawn crackers, fishball (those tibits kind of fishballs, if u know what i meant), Pocky & Twistees. The statistics showed that the fishes in Sibu prefers....(drum roll)...BREAD!!! Wahhahaha... -.-"

I'm definitely looking forward to another of such trips with my cousins. Its SO much fun even though it can be quite boring at night..and sometimes during the day. I'm happy and proud to have them as my family. I've always believed that what makes a trip memorable & enjoyable is the company. If you are with the right group of people, it doesn't matter where you go or what you do. This explains why I can go to the same place over and over again but with different groups of people. Same place, different experience! ")

Setting off from the jetty. Our kelong is about 20 minutes boat ride away.

My 3 darling cousins fishing at the 'entrance' of the Kelong. See the stairs? It leads up to the kelong itself. Behind them is where the boat will be "parked". They had so much fun there that they refused to come up till it's lunch time.

Them again, struggling with the bait

I AM SO LUCKY!!!

It's proven once again, that I am one lucky gal!!

If you have been reading my blog faithfully, you should have read one of my entry earlier this month, with regards to how I lucky I was to be able to recover my lost mobile. Well..something even more miraculous happened this afternoon, during my lunch break :)

I was walking back to office with my colleagues & was complaining to one of them that my diamond bangle (the one that Mummy gave me on my 21st birthday) was full of scratches. While complaining, I looked down at my bangle & I suddenly discovered that one of the diamonds was gone!!! Frantically, me and my colleagues start combing the surrounding area (I remembered brushing my hand against the pillar before I started to complain about the scratches) for that small, tiny diamond, but it was lunch time & the coffeeshop was packed! So we decided to come back to office, hoping that it was dropped in the office instead.

After scrutinizing my cubicle & that of the surrounding area, I still couldn't find it. So I went back to the coffeeshop. No luck still, and time was running out for me cos I have a client to see @ 2pm. So I asked the coffeeshop cleaner auntie & the vendors to help me look out. But I was already thinking to myself that there is NO way I can find the diamond, cos it so small & I dun even know where/when it was fell off the claw of the bangle

BUT..miracle happened!! While walking back, I saw my colleague waving at me from my office. Initially I thought that my client came early. When I entered the office, I saw many smiling faces & was told that my receptionist found the diamond!!! Apparently, she found it somewhere between my cubicle & another colleague's. I am telling you, I never felt so lucky b4. NEVER!!

I mean, when I lost my mobile, there is still hope that I might get it back. At the very least, I can still "contact" the mobile or whoever took it & I roughly know when & where it went missing etc. But..a diamond!!??? I can't "call", it won't "ring" and for goodness sake, it's so small!! Even my colleagues was questionable about finding it. BUT I FOUND IT!! Or rather, my colleague found it for me. Wahahahaa.

I dunno how else I can describe my feelings. No words can describe the miraculous experience :) So..to commemorate this and the previous "shi er fu de" belongings, I decided to buy 4D -.- Haha..today is a Wed - a 4D day!! Hopefully you will get good news from me later tonight.

Praying~~~~~

DISASTROUS YET COMICAL

This is the 1st trip that I had with the boys, and it turns out to be a complete disaster!!! Never had I been to any trip where there's so many hiccups..even b4 setting off.

First, Lynn was down with cough & flu on the 1st day. She was already sick days before the trip. Then on the plane, somehow Zhentai & Zhiming also kana the flu virus, but luckily it didn't stay. However, throughout the flight, you can hear a symphony of sneezes every minute. Yet the boys are still grabbing every opportunity to joke instead of resting. To make things worse, the flight to BKK was more like a roller coaster ride with turbulence EVERYWHERE!!! From the time the plane took off, the seat-belt sign is on throughout. Trust me..I seriously thought that the plane was going to explore/crash anytime. Of cos, we blame it on the 1st time traveller, KOH ZHEN TAI!!!

Then, on the 3rd day, Mr Koh was down with food poisoning. In case you would like to know, he ate a plate of fried rice, 6 eggs, some waffles, dozen cups of milk, beans, cereals and more for his BREAKFAST!!! We later gathered that his food poisoning could be due to his hefty breakfast & the maggots + Coke that he had b4 entering Chatuchak. (Well... some idiot suggested trying the fried maggots, so we bought a pack & all of us ate it..INCLUDING ME!! God knows what came over me.)

Anyway, he started to vomit on the streets of Chatuchak Market, so me and Jieying, being the compassionate kind souls, rushed him back to our hotel while the other 3 continued their shopping. I can bet on my last dollar that the ride back was the longest ride that he had in his entire life. The cab was not moving, we forgot to prepare plastic bags for his anytime-can-come vomits & he starts to experience stomach upsets. (-.-") Both myself & Jieying were so afraid that the cabbie would chase us off the cab. But then again, if he really did that, I wouldn't blame him, I mean...who can tahan having some strangers seated so close to you & making all the "auurrggghhh...oorrggghhh..." vomiting sound. So, to compensate the cabbie, we paid him double of the cab fare.

That's not all, on the same day evening, I too was down with food poisoning. Neither of us remembers me eating anything different from the rest, so we decided to blame it on Mr Koh again since I took most care of him when he was sick. So we concluded that he was the one who passed the virus to me, not that food poisoning is contagious, we just want to blame it on someone. I know it's lame.

Anyway, when I was down with food poisoning with all the vomitting & diarrhoea, it was dinner time. I don't even want to drink water let alone to eat something. But Kijporn was already in our room nagging at me to have to eat something, and in order not to disappoint the rest..I drag myself with them to the Japanese Buffet. FYI..Mr Koh had already recovered after taking the so-called "Shen Qi Yao Shui a.k.a drink-it-you-will-vomit-all chinese medicine". I took that too, and I really vomitted out everything. Okay, I've digressed. So..while they are enjoying the feast, all that I was allowed to eat was a Udon (-.-") All thanks to tyrant Mr Hariwongsanupap Kijporn! Mind you, the buffet costs about SGD$20 and all I had was a Udon!! Expensive Udon. Thankfully, after drinking some self-made remedy of Kijporn that consist of 7-up & salt, I felt better.

Finally, on the last day, Jieying wrapped up the whole trip by "summarizing" all of our problems onto herself. So..she was down with flu, fever & diarrhoea!! Haiz~~~ Again, we blame it on Mr Koh. If you remember, when he suffers from food poisoning, it was me & Jieying who brought him back to the hotel. So this further affirms our belief that it was HIM who passed the virus to us.

Understand why this was a disastrous trip??? As to why it was comical, it's all thanks to our jokers, Mr Sim Xiangrong, Mr Tan Zhiming & Mr Koh Zhen Tai. They can really joke at anytime, anywhere & with anyone. Great entertainers I would say. It would be a torture though when you have to juggle between having stomach upsets & laughing. But its all thanks to the boys as despite all the hiccups, this was a fabulous trip filled with laughter & giggles. Definitely looking forward to another with the boys, but this time round, we'll make sure that we bring enough medication. In case!!!

Next destination in mind with them, Tioman!!

CREATIVE IN A WRONG WAY

My colleague sent me this and it is HILARIOUS!!!I wonder how would I react if I were the teacher. To cry or laugh??

LUCKY!!!

LUCKY!!!
I definitely have to blog about this!!

Yesterday, I was on my way home with another 2 of my frens after sending Rose off @ the airport. We took a comfort cab home & that's about 11pm. Then I happily went home, bathed & getting ready for bed when I suddenly realised that..I LOST MY PHONE!! That was around 12 midnight.

Initially I thot I had simply misplaced it, like I always do. But I didn't hear my phone rang when I called & I combed my whole room, still couldn't find. Frantically, I started calling all of my friends who was with me at the airport to see if somehow my phone would end up in their bags. Then I logged online to search for the comfort cab's lost & found number, filed a report. Wanted to call SingTel to cut off my line, but was worried that after cutting off, I wouldn't be able to "call" my phone anymore. (P.S: My friends was calling the phone the whole time I was filing for the report. My phone rang, but no one picked up/ turned off the phone)

Then, it suddenly struck me that I MIGHT have dropped it somewhere along the road after alighting the cab. So I told Mr Dory Wee Prawn Prawn that I want to go downstairs to try my luck. He was skeptical about it and ask me not to waste my time, but I insisted. So down I went. And...I FOUND IT!! It was lying next to the curb at the spot where I alighted. WAHAHAHAA..I was thinking to myself while making my way down, would I be lucky enough to find my phone? And it turns out...I AM A LUCKY GER!!!

P.S: Mr Dory Wee, sometimes desperate methods work okay!!
