AN UNLUCKY DAY
The following tells a story about a day of an unlucky prawn dumpling, Mr Har Kao. Upon his request, I tell the story on his behalf. He hopes that everyone who read it would pity his unluckiness. And the story goes....
Once upon a sunday in December 2006, the story unfolds...
Firstly, his computer crashed. All his documents & files are at risk of being wiped out completely. Next, Hao Kao and his family decides to travel to M'sia for a 1-day JB tour. Just as he was happily driving & squeezing with the many others on the Causeway towards M'sia, the car broke down -.- For some unknown reason, it simply refused to move.
There being no other choices and him being the only able-bodied man (in his own words, there's 3 frail ladies & 1 "handicapped" father on board), Har Kao has to get down the car and push it. If it was a sunny day, maybe some kind souls would stop by to help. Unfortunately, it was a rainy day!! Therefore no one bothered. Poor Har Kao has to accomplish the mission single-handledly and in the rain!! According to his description, he felt so 'man' with the sweats & rains and half-transparent white shirt sticking to his body thus showing his "ang kong".
After much hardship, he finally reached the M'sia custom, believing that they would be able to help. To his dismay (and horror), they actually asked him to push the car all the way to the service centres in JB, which are all quite a distance away from the custom. And..he has to do it alone as the custom is short of man power. Unwilling to do it, they waited and waited and waited..finally, someone managed to have the car started. It was already around 4pm then. Solicitous about the condition of the car, they decide to head back to Singapore instead. Praying throughout that the car would not die on them again.
Prayers unheard, the car dies again while they queued for clearance in Singapore Customs. Again, Har Kao braved the rain and pushed the car to the shelters. This time round, our friendly custom officers offered to call in tow service for them, FOC. So they waited, and waited, and waited..... Just then, another officer walked by to check on them. Upon understanding the situation, he offered to charge the car's battery for them and ta-da, the car is moving once again.
Cautiously, Har Kao drives home with no headlights, no air-con & no wipper. Fearing that the battery would run out, he has no choice but to switch off the above. Finally, it's home sweet home for his folks. As for Har Kao, he has to return the troublesome car to its owner. This time round, with the rain getting heavier and night falling, he has to switch on the headlights and wipper.
Approaching the multi-storey carpark of where the owner parks his car, Har Kao was overwhelmed with joy, thinking that his nightmare is over. This being not his day, the car dies once again, at the entrance of the multi storey carpark. The spot was perfectly calculated, it dies right at the entrance where there's no shelter from the heavy downpour. Cursing and swearing, Har Kao has to push car into the carpark and into the parking lot. All these was to be done manually. Meaning to say, he has to push the car front & back, in and out of the lot until it's properly parked.
With the car is dead, he can't start it and therefore he can't wind up the windows. After assurance from the owner that there's no valuables in the car, he left the carpark with the windows of the car 3/4 up. Lucky for him, his friend was there with him and he was kind enough to give Har Kao a ride home in his motorbike. Meaning to say, Har Kao has to ride home in the rain again. (In my opinion, I don't think the rain makes a difference to his already-wet-shirt and pants).
When he finally sat down for his dinner, he swallowed 2 bowls of rice within 5 minutes. He claims these to be his first meal of the day. That was already 8pm.
So the 1-day M'sia tour turned into a 1-day Singapore-Malaysia's custom tour.
End of story.
My reaction to his day: Wahahahahaha...*faint from laughter*
